Most disconnects happen because your internet shuts off (atleast to the point where it stops communications with GW servers) lol.
Anywy, this just plays on something that most games already do. When you unproperly logout (disconnected, close the program, etc) your character isn't automatically logged out - your character actually stays afk in the game for alittle bit before server notices the lost connection and boots your character.
This delay is usually a few seconds (in GW some survivors can note trying to close the program, and they log back in with 1 death ) - but alot of games prolong this delay intentionally so that logging out cannot be abused, like in games where you cannot logout if you are pvping - if you close the program it proposely keeps your character logged in for a minute or such so people can kill you as a penalty for tryingto cheat the system.
I suppose what GW will be doing is merely prolonging this delay to 10 minutes and then coding in a function to reenter the instance you started in.

I could not be more pleased about any assistance to party formation. I would have been happy with a seperate party search chat channel, but this "panel" sounds like it coud be so much better than that!
I'll see everyone in the snowball fights! (my favorite form of PvP)

Still it's a lot of work for a rage quitter and frankly most don't care if they leave a group hanging or not.
Anyway this exciting ... glad to see more updates coming
Just need a new type of Trade System and the voice communication system which GW said was in the works.. and all should be well.

If a player gets dropped from the game due to a connection problem, and that player can reconnect within ten minutes, the player's character will be relocated to the spot of disconnection. If the character was performing an action, such as casting a spell or auto-attacking a target, that character will complete the action as if still connected. If a player is in a group when disconnected, the other members of the party will be notified about the player's connection problems."
Wonder if we will be placed back in the group? What if the one that lost connection was leader, and had heroes, if the group dies as a result then the mission is failed? Questions, questions..

We better put some effort into getting an auction house because we have been wanting that since before the game released and reconnects and LFG stuff is being added? We obviously arn't petitioning hard enough for a way to sell our goods without downloading a bot or wasting hours of our time.

This is awesome news!
Alex, does the reconnect system only work for an actual interrupted connection? If you close the program or log out, you're instantly taken out of the game as per normal, correct? Otherwise Survivor title hunters are going to have major problems with this.
Survivor characters will probably have a problem with this regardless; losing an entire title to a disconnect that's out of your control would be more than suck. What consideration is being given to them?

Enchanted Warrior, I'm not trying to be rude or anything but I think most of your concerns have been addressed via Alex repeatedly throughout this thread. It's quite worth the read ^_^
However I will sum up what he has stated. It will be as if you went afk on your party - your toon will remain there standing still for up to 10mins (unless it was casting in which it will finish its casting) and your party will be notified that you are having connection issues. If you are able to reconnect during the 10mins you are back with your group. During the time you are disconnected your toon can be killed! So if you disconnect in the midst of battle you could likely die, otherwise you will just have to hope and pray that your henchies or party are smart enough to keep you alive till you can reconnect.

Alex Weekes just dropped into temple of Balth and confirmed reconnects are for pvp and Pve - woot and unless something really bad happens will be here before the end of the year, so dont go all whingy if they're not here on the 20th
Remember these words. This is projected not promised. Just saying this because many here will go off the deep end if it does not launch as promised.

Reconnects and LFG interface requests are just as old as auction house requests, all the way back from the beta days, nearly 2 years ago.
Don't get me wrong, I want an in game auction house as well, but saying that's more important or older is silly.
Reconnects, for one thing, effects the $100k PvP tournaments, and that's really huge.

It took awhile, but it was just a matter of time for these features (Party Search, Reconnect after Disconnect) to be available in GW. These are common features in other NCSoft titles (example, City of Heroes/Villains).
